It really wouldn't surprise me if Aerosmith held some sort of record for "most compilation albums" ever to be put out by a major recording artist. Of course, these days, one can't fault the band for this, since the music industry is dying, record companies are doing whatever they can to stay afloat for just a bit longer, and, well, compilations are what seems to keep their heads above water. What also doesn't help is that Aerosmith were on two different labels during their career, so many of their "Best Of's" and/or "Greatest Hits" only represented one half of the band's output.

The reason this release is probably the best of the best-ofs, is that their able to highlight the band's entire career, so if you're a fan of some, or all of the band's material depending on timeline, you'll get your favorites well represented here. Like most compilations, this isn't a complete set of everything the band has that was "big", but everything is well represented never the less. I can't figure out, for example, why they would include Big Ten Inch Record from the early part of their career while leaving out Kings and Queens. I'm also not a big fan of the RUN DMC song that Aerosmith "plays" on (fortunately the original Walk This Way is here as well).

The two new songs Girls of Summer and Lay it Down are well done and compliment the other material as well. This is the one to buy if you only have one Aerosmith CD in your collection.
